Frank B. Holding, Jr.
Frank B. Holding, Jr., Chairman and CEO of First Citizens BancShares Inc. and its First Citizens Bank subsidiary, will be the featured speaker during the Spring 2012 Harlan Boyles CEO Lecture Series at Appalachian State. Holding will speak at Farthing Auditorium March 28 at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public.
Holding was elected Chairman of Raleigh-headquartered First Citizens BancShares in February 2009. He has served as Chief Executive Officer since January 2008. Under his direction, 114-year-old First Citizens Bank is recognized nationally for safety, stability and customer service. With strong capital ratios, the company did not take funding from the federal government’s Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP.)
With $21 billion in assets and more than 5,000 associates, BancShares is one of the largest family-controlled financial services companies in the United States and one of the top 50 largest financial holding institutions in the nation. BancShares also ranked ninth-best in the nation on a Forbes' list of the 100 largest banks and thrifts in 2011. BancShares is the financial holding company for First Citizens Bank, which provides a broad range of financial services through a network of 430 branch offices in 17 states and the District of Columbia.
